Lindsee,

I'm not sure what kind of easy pointers I can provide. Cabriole legs are not hard they just take some time, patience and attention to detail.

If you follow along with what I show here on the blog and also look at the references that I point to in a few of the posts, you can do it! Send me and e-mail know if you have specific questions and I will try to help.

Good luck!

Steve,

Thanks for stopping by the web site and for your nice comments on it. I traded e-mails with Glen when I built this piece. I was going by his plan in Popular Woodworking. I assume that the piece on your web site is by you. If so, both you and Glen did a great job on them.

Thanks again for your comments and please continue to visit the site.

This is a very good website and I enjoyed going through it.

Just a note of correction - the Queen Anne side table was a piece I did and not my brother. I did the piece back in 1996 when we bother worked together in the family business. He has since went on and far surpasses my skill.

I picked the piece just to practice the legs. It was a lot of fun and I highly recommend the piece.

All the best - Steve Huey

Rebecca,

Thanks for visiting the blog. I'd be happy to try to help in some way.

Sounds like you have the pieces cut off of the legs and also the "lowered" sideboard. Do you have pictures you can share?

If so, send me an e-mail and I will try to offer my thoughts on what might be possible.

Hi Mark! Could you possibly help me with a beautiful walnut inlaid sideboard that my mother lowered by cutting about 8" off of each of its eight legs? (I know!!! But there you have it. Fortunately, she saved the legs!) I have now inherited the sideboard and would like to restore it to it's proper height. Any help or direction will be greatly appreciated! Sincerely, Rebecca Ward

Neil,

Thanks for stopping by!

Landon was inspiring in both his methods and knowledge as well as the shear volume of work he has done. He has a house full of period reproductions that he has done that you would think are the lifetime works of 5 woodworkers - an he did all of it whole also doing commission work - amazing!

I really wanted to do a period piece with some new challenges - namely the legs in this one.

I hope you'll follow along to keep tabs on my progress - it's always great to hear from you!

Hi Mark:

Playing catch-up and stopped by to see what's been going on. A period piece, COOL...... and you've already roughed out the legs.

What was it exactly that Landon did or said in his lecture that got you inspired????

Nothing better than a build that stretchs you out, no matter the "Craftsman's Path" you take on this piece, it will surely be rewarding.
